France has published the second version of its National Action Plan, reconfirming its ambition to cut pesticide use by 50% over the course of a decade. The recently published Ecophyto ll pledges an extra €30 million to help achieve this and outlines a raft of measures building on the first plan, which has its origins in France’s major stakeholder consultation on the environment in 2008.

The C-IPM ERA-Net recently held its second annual meeting, bringing together representatives from 31 funding organisations to discuss potentially interesting call topics and proposals for future workshops. The meeting also included a workshop on communication for boosting the impact of IPM research.

The session, dedicated to the importance and added value of coordinating IPM-related research, attracted around 200 people, including scientists, policy makers and farmers, who listened to three talks and participated in a round table discussion

A new four-year Integrated Pest Management (IPM) project has been launched, bringing together 18 partners from Europe and China and focusing on three crops chosen for their economic importance: tomatoes, leafy vegetables and grapes.
While the PURE project has officially finished, its legacy lives on, not least in the tools produced over the course of four years. These resources include the work of the teams addressing Integrated Pest Management design and assessment methodology and an adapted version of the DEXiPM multi-criteria assessment tool.
The European Union’s Minor Uses Coordination Facility is now operational and will be seeking to help EU farmers produce high quality crops by filling gaps in minor uses through efficient collaboration, improving the availability of chemical and non-chemical tools within an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach.
