In this section you can find a selection of country profiles written by experts involved with ENDURE.

    Country Introduction
    Lithuania
    Lithuania
In the latest of our country profiles, Ilma Rimkeviciene, from the PI Lithuanian Agricultural Advisory Service, introduces us to the integrated plant protection information, consulting and training information service the country has introduced as part of its drive towards more sustainable agriculture. Italy
Our sixth Country Profile is dedicated to Italy, where efforts to reduce the risk and impact of pesticides can be traced back almost 40 years. Italy's application of the 'Pesticides Package' directive relies heavily on the country's 20 regions and two autonomous provinces for introducing IPM practices appropriate for that area's specific crops. Federica Piccolo, a consultant at CNR (Italy's National Research Council) and Andrew Lewer, long-term ENDURE contributor, provide an overview of a recent publication [1] and Italy's National Action Plan [2]. United Kingdom
In the fifth of our country profiles we focus on the United Kingdom, where the challenge of meeting the Sustainable Use Directive is being met with a plan that seeks to employ, where possible, non-regulatory approaches delivered by stakeholder partners. Nick Birch, of the James Hutton Institute, and Andrew Lewer, long-term ENDURE contributor, report. Read the full article.
    Swisss flag
    Switzerland
In the fourth of our country profiles we examine Switzerland, a nation which first turned to Integrated Pest Management more than 40 years ago and has now developed Integrated Production and a system of direct payments to farmers for ecological services. As researchers Benno Graf, Jörg Samietz, Robert Baur and Thomas Steinger from Agroscope report, Swiss policy is focused on reducing the risks associated with pesticide use. Read the full article.

    France
In the third of our country profiles we examine France, where the ambitious challenge has been set of halving pesticide use nationally over the course of 10 years. In this article, Philippe Delval, an ENDURE participant working at ACTA, the ‘Network for Innovative Research in Agriculture’, and Marco Barzman, ENDURE’s Scientific Officer, examine Ecophyto 2018, France’s National Action Plan. Germany

    Germany
In the second of our country profiles we examine Germany, where the task of implementing Integrated Pest Management (IPM) through the National Action Plan (NAP) is being addressed through a range of measures. The most important of these is the development of crop or sector specific guidelines designed to provide farmers with the information they need to grow crops according to the principles of IPM.
