      The EUCLID project (Europe-China Lever for Integrated Pest Management Demonstration) is now entering its second year, with work on testing new products and technologies getting underway at its range of demonstration sites this spring and summer.

      A new brochure concentrating on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in brassica crops and oilseed rape has been produced by experts from the European Innovation Partnership’s Agricultural Productivity and Sustainability (EIP-AGRI) focus group on these crops.

      Aarhus University, one of ENDURE’s Danish partners, is seeking a post-doc researcher in plant pathology to join its tenure track programme. This programme offers highly qualified candidates a researcher position for six years with the prospect of performance-based advancement to a tenured senior researcher post.

      UK experts have recommended a three-pronged approach for the sustainable management of black-grass, an increasingly herbicide-resistant weed which is a particular problem in autumn-sown cereal crops.

    • AgriSpin logo AgriSpin to share innovation insights

      The closing conference of the AgriSpin project (Space for Innovation in Agriculture) takes place on July 3, 2017, on the Greek island of Crete. The project, coordinated by SEGES, one of ENDURE’s Danish partners, has been seeking to establish what makes innovation processes move forward and what blocks them.

    • Events calendar A dozen new events added to listing

      A dozen new events have recently been added to our events calendar, including the five-day Future IPM 3.0, which runs from October 16 to 20 in Riva del Garda, Italy. Alongside the IOBC/WPRS General Assembly and plenary sessions, IPM Future 3.0 will feature a selection of workshops on ‘hot topics’ such as induced resistance in plants, novel tools in viticulture and preserving soil quality.

      Two of ENDURE’s French partners are joining forces with the AgMIP and MacSur international networks to host an International Conference on Crop Losses caused by diseases, pests and weeds this autumn. An initiative from INRA, working in close partnership with CIRAD, the event will run from October 16 to 18 in Paris.

      Two fresh newsletters from INRA's Sustainable Management of Crop Health (SMaCH) metaprogramme are now available (in French), one focusing on the design of sustainable systems and agro-ecological transitions, and one examining the management of crop health at the landscape and territorial scales.

      French researchers have demonstrated that low pesticide use rarely decreases productivity and profitability in arable farms, and that major reductions in pesticide use across the country could be achieved through a range of changes in practices, provided the appropriate support is given to farmers.

      The fourth Sustainability Conference organised by ENDURE’s Swiss partner, Agroscope, this year presented the principles, opportunities and challenges of ‘smart farming’ and outlined the latest developments and current research needs.
