Budding video makers are being invited to produce a film of up to 3 minutes describing what sustainable crop production means to them. Open to all, the ERA-Net SusCrop video competition is offering a €1,000 top prize in four categories, with second and third place prizes of €300 and €200 respectively.
The competition is open to anyone around the world with the awards divided into the following categories: schoolchildren and students; education, research institutes and academia; farmers and farmer groups reflecting on their everyday life; and an open category including any individuals or groups with an interest in the topic.
The ERA-Net SusCrop has identified keywords designed to inspire potential video makers. These comprise sustainability, resilience, agriculture, forestry, ecology, crop production, crops, plants, science, nature, climate change, and the future.
It adds: “However, we invite any kind of video: be original, think out-of-the-box! What does sustainability in the area of crop production mean to you? How should agriculture look like in the future? Do you practice sustainability procedures in growing crops or ornamental plants in your environment (e.g. your garden or balcony)?”
The closing date for videos is May 26 2023 and entrants will be reviewed by the ERA-Net SusCrop jury and ranked according to the following criteria:
