Agroecology Europe Forum: Save the date!

March 28, 2023

Agroecology Europe is to hold its 2023 Forum from November 16 to 18 in Hungary. The three-day in-person event will bring together people “from all over Europe and beyond to meet in dialogue and discuss some of the most pressing issues and present solutions for today’s food systems”.

Members and partner organisations can submit proposals for the event until Friday March 31, with four topics receiving particular attention:

  • Focus on soils (living soils, One Health)
  • Agroecology and strategic alliances (networks and scaling out, parallels with other approaches, inclusivity, and connections with other movements)
  • Challenges and opportunities in policy and local governance (access to land, first steps in agroecological transition, common food systems, CAP reform, examples of local governance support, and responses to populism)
  • Sowing the seeds for a resilient future (digitalisation, transforming education and farming extension services, innovative techniques for enhancing resilience, and restoring traditional knowledge and varieties)

“By bringing together a variety of stakeholders from various movements and territories, we aim to create synergies that set an exemplary model for facilitating the transition to agroecology in Europe, while acknowledging the global reach of the movement,” explain the organisers.

“Local solutions supported by favourable policies, tailored to the diverse climatic, socio-economic and cultural realities of the European continent can bring about a more climate-resilient, biodiverse Europe, with environmental and social justice at its heart.”
