France has published the second version of its National Action Plan, reconfirming its ambition to cut pesticide use by 50% over the course of a decade. The recently published Ecophyto ll pledges an extra €30 million to help achieve this and outlines a raft of measures building on the first plan, which has its origins in France’s major stakeholder consultation on the environment in 2008.
The latest newsletter from INRA's Sustainable Management of Crop Health (SMaCH) metaprogramme is now available, focusing on the work of three projects designed to provide a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to crop losses.
The C-IPM ERA-Net recently held its second annual meeting, bringing together representatives from 31 funding organisations to discuss potentially interesting call topics and proposals for future workshops. A new four-year Integrated Pest Management (IPM) project has been launched, bringing together 18 partners from Europe and China and focusing on three crops chosen for their economic importance: tomatoes, leafy vegetables and grapes.
While the PURE project has officially finished, its legacy lives on, not least in the tools produced over the course of four years. These resources include the work of the teams addressing Integrated Pest Management design and assessment methodology and an adapted version of the DEXiPM multi-criteria assessment tool.
The European Union’s Minor Uses Coordination Facility is now operational and will be seeking to help EU farmers produce high quality crops by filling gaps in minor uses through efficient collaboration, improving the availability of chemical and non-chemical tools within an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach.
Four new papers in scientific journals have so far been published by ENDURE researchers this year, tackling a range of Integrated Pest Management-related issues. They encompass the principles underpinning IPM, research and development priorities in the face of climate change, robust cropping systems to tackle pests under climate change and the challenges and opportunities for IPM in Europe with a focus on minor uses.
French Ministers have welcomed a report detailing an ambitious package of projects designed to enable France to develop more innovative and sustainable agriculture over the coming decade.
