The results of projects launched in 2013 by INRA’s Sustainable Management of Crop Health (SMaCH) metaprogramme will be presented (in French) at a two-day workshop this autumn, alongside four theses supported by the programme.
Launched some four years ago, SMaCH is designed to develop research on crop health that is more international and cuts across natural and human sciences. It brings together researchers from nine historically discipline-defined INRA departments covering agricultural sciences, environmental sciences, plant biology, ecology, forestry, genetics, mathematics, social sciences and economics.
Over the course of two days in Paris, France, the results of a range of projects will be presented and discussions held on how best to exploit the knowledge generated. On Thursday October 6, the opening session will be devoted to the design of sustainable systems and agroecological transitions, including a focus on viticulture (design and exploitation of sustainable viticulture systems, co-construction of agroecological approaches, trajectories of conversions to organic production etc.).
Friday October 7 will be dedicated to the management of crop health at the landscape and territorial scales, including news from the SESAME project on landscape dynamics and pest management and the FONDU project on territorial strategies for the sustainable use of fungicides. The closing session will include a general discussion and an examination of future prospects and actions.
