May date for Farm Demo event

14, 2022

Three Horizon 2020 projects – Nefertiti, IPMWORKS and IPMDecisions – are joining forces to stage the Farm Demo Conference in Brussels, Belgium, on May 11, an event dedicated to ‘Sharing innovation for sustainable agriculture’ designed for policy makers, advisory services, farmers, researchers and economic actors in value chains.

The organisers report that the event will bring together high-profile experts “to create the necessary debate over the main tools and decision support of IPM demo farms, a new approach for strategical advice, facilitation and support of peer-to-peer learning, the added value of demonstration and the role of networks of demo farms to promote the general adoption of sustainable farming practices.”

The organisers say the main objectives of the conference are:

  • A presentation of the DEPHY network as a pioneer as a pioneer of demonstration farms using fewer pesticides
  • A presentation of the main findings and activities of Farm Demo projects
  • Bringing together hub coaches, demonstration farmers and policy makers to share experiences and best practices and transferring knowledge related to peer-to-peer learning, the added value of demonstration and sustainable farming practices
  • To have an open and participatory forum for discussion

Following the opening of the conference with speeches from institutional speakers, the second section will be more technical and participative, including round tables. The third and final session will have different workshops simultaneously, where participants will be free to choose what they want to attend, followed by the testimony of experts on what to expect from networks of demonstration farms. It will close with the view of an external witness

The event is free of charge but registration is required. The closing date for registration is April 22.
