Candidates for the fourth International Summer School in Agroecology (ISSAE), being held at the Ecole Nationale de Formation Agronomique in Toulouse, south-west France, have until May 30 to complete their application.
ISSAE, which runs from July 7 to 12, seeks those who see themselves as scholars and/or practitioners of agroecology, providing an opportunity to meet and learn from each other. It is mainly designed for students who are interested in agroecology in their education and training (Masters, internships) or research (thesis). Therefore Masters students or students who have recently started their PhD are particularly welcome.
A specific objective of ISSAE is to stimulate scientific debates on the agroecological research agenda, focusing on emerging issues such as, for example, the contribution of indicators to the evaluation of ecologically based agriculture. Another objective is to build a network involved in the international debate on interdisciplinarity and the links between research and action addressed by agroecology.
With a programme drawn up by a scientific committee including experts in the fields of economics, genetics and sociology, the summer school looks to build bridges between the social and agricultural sciences ( ENDURE’s 2012 summer school explored the possibilities of using agroecology for crop protection). ISSAE will be doing this through three case studies, a field trip, workshops and lectures.
More details are available on the International Summer School in Agroecology website.
