ENDURE Resource Centre - ERC
The ENDURE Resource Centre (formerly "Virtual Lab") provides access to a number of crop protection research facilities in Europe. The Resource Centre assembles reference strains of arthropods, weeds and plant pathogens, DNA and RNA libraries, collections of crop cultivars, analytical tools, integrates decision support systems, and creates a modelling platform to parameterise models and test their predictions under practical conditions, providing a whole system approach to ENDURE.
The goals of the Resource Centre are to:
- Promote the sharing of biological resources that underpin research in crop protection, and of the expertise needed to exploit these most effectively.
- Identify and facilitate the sharing of facilities for laboratory and field-based research.
- Review existing methodologies and facilitate the standardisation of these when appropriate.
- Develop unified theoretical approaches to crop protection taking into account regional contexts (including technical and socio-economical aspects), and provide support with the construction of models and decision support systems.
- Promote the use of information and communication technologies for more effective implementation of pest management recommendations.
