One of ENDURE's two Italian partners, the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies of Pisa (SSSUP), is about to launch the sixth year of its International Doctoral Programme in Agrobiodiversity.
The PhD programme is run in collaboration with the National Academy of Sciences of Italy and is funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research, with six scholarships available to motivated students from any country.
The course aims to boost human resource capacity in the utilisation and management of biodiversity in agricultural and natural systems, thus improving the sustainability of agriculture and the conservation of genetic resources and agroecosystem (bio)diversity for the well-being of current and future generations. An international scientific board supervises activities and ensures education and research excellence. Where applicable, it also oversees the choice of themes relevant to developing countries' agriculture.
Applications from developing countries are particularly welcome and applicants must include the description of a research project that the candidate would like to carry out during the three-year period of the doctorate. English is the only language used for all the activities in the doctorate.
