Aarhus University (AU), one of ENDURE’s Danish partners, is seeking a professor in plant pathology for its Department of Agroecology, a position designed to bolster its research competence in the epidemiology of plant pathogens.
The university reports: “The successful candidate will be part of a research environment in plant pathology that is among the leading in Europe with research programs in epidemiology, molecular biology, ecology, and prevention and control of plant diseases in agriculture. Furthermore, the Department is hosting the Global Rust Reference Center.
“Within the area of epidemiology, we are focusing our efforts in population genetics, evolutionary biology and epidemiology of crop pathogens in a changing environment. Host responses are studied at both macroscopic and microscopic levels and improvement of methods for host resistance phenotyping is also a focus point. Host-pathogen systems under study are rusts, powdery mildews and leaf blotch diseases on cereals and grasses.”
Among their tasks, the successful candidate will be responsible for the development of both basic and applied research in plant pathology, ensuring strong national and international collaboration with leading research groups and the agro-industry, and will be responsible for research-based teaching activities and courses in plant pathology and participate in assessments of students at Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD levels.
