What is the ENDURE Information Centre?

The ENDURE Information Centre (ENDURE IC) disseminates information on crop protection. It creates an overview of the ways sustainable crop protection can be implemented in European agriculture. ENDURE IC is a central point of reference for extending expert knowledge, recommendations and advice for extension services, advisers and researchers concerning all aspects of Integrated Pest Management. For users it provides a search through a crop/pest or disease/region combination. The search results offer a European quality selection (European Best Practices) with validated Integrated Pest Management (IPM) measures including prevention, chemical pest and disease control as well as non-chemical alternatives such as biological control measures.

What kind of information?

The ENDURE Information Centre offers ready to use information about Integrated Pest Management. This means the information is scientifically sound, but also:

• Tested in the field
• Practical to adopt
• Cost-effective

Other results (experimental) inform users about measures which have the potential to provide a solution for a given problem but cannot be recommended as best practice: they have been tested on experimental fields, and adoption is possible under special conditions.

And, of course, all measures are aimed to result in less reliance on pesticides.

Quality selection

The information consists of English summaries containing the main results of articles, reports, videos, sheets, information on books and links to websites, and are summarised and validated by experts. The original documents are presented in their original language.

The ENDURE partners (click here for more information) selected the information in their own country by:

• Type of pest, disease or problem
• Type of Integrated Pest Management or non-chemical measure
• Type of practicability of measures

Directions for use

• Choose the language you require at the top right of the screen.
• Start your search by clicking on SEARCH at the top left of the screen. Search the ENDURE Information Centre by selecting a combination of crop-pest/disease-measure and region for a given problem. Common or scientific names of crops and pests/diseases are provided in the displayed trees. For a quicker search use the auto-complete function provided within each search box.
• Results comprising document summaries, expert reviews or projects are presented in a list giving the title of the article, a one-line summary, the country concerned and the language in which the summary is available. All results are displayed in English and some are provided in an additional language. To short-cut the search procedure, use the search box in the green header line.
