Disseminating results and knowledge

SA1. Joint training and education programmes

Leader: Joszef Kiss (SZIE)

The objectives of SA1 are:

  • Evaluating current IPM training materials and practices
  • Extending ENDURE activities in PhDs related to IPM in Europe
  • Key staff training (advisers) for better use and implementation of ENDURE results of case studies (including the use of the ENDURE Information Centre) and focus on IPM.

SA1.1 Developing training material for IPM learning

Leader: Joszef Kiss (SZIE)

The current work programme comprises two tasks: an assessment of IPM learning needs in response to the Framework Directive which calls for IPM training, and developing IPM learning materials, the content of which will be drawn from ENDURE resources and outputs.

SA1.2 Joint educational programme

Leader: Paolo Bàrberi (SSSUP)

The second ENDURE Summer School will take place in June 2009 under the theme 'Modelling approaches to support IPM'. A third Summer School is also planned and will be discussed in October 2009. SA1.2 is also working to create within ENDURE the conditions that should favour the inclusion of experts in the PhD discussion committees of students from other partners. Additionally, SA1.2 is compiling and updating a list of courses (for example, winter and summer schools) on crop protection-related subjects for MSc and PhD students.

SA2. Technology transfer

In the current period, SA2's objectives are to provide suitable intellectual property strategies for innovative results in crop protection to benefit end-users and to facilitate the uptake and use of the knowledge and tools generated in ENDURE.

SA3. External dissemination plan

Leader: Jean-Louis Sarah (CIRAD)

The overall objective is to ensure that the research outputs generated by ENDURE are shared with the wider community. This includes the maintenance and updating of the public website, the publication of electronic newsletters and leaflets, ensuring news of ENDURE activities reaches the main scientific associations and other target publics, and providing ENDURE researchers with the communication tools they need.

SA4. Creation of the ENDURE Information Centre

Leader: Herman Schoorlemmer (PPO)

The overall objectives of the ENDURE Information Centre (ENDURE IC) are to:

  • Provide a central point of reference for extending recommendations and providing advice on low input practices for crop protection as developed in different countries
  • To create an overview of the ways crop protection policies are being developed and implemented in different countries
  • Provide a central point of reference to policy makers in order to facilitate crop protection policies and implementation, and research agenda development
  • Disseminate more general information on the incidence of pests and invasive species, perceived new threats to European agriculture and progress with research on new control tactics.

SA4.1 Development of the ENDURE Information Centre for use by advisers

Leader: Herman Schoorlemmer (PPO)

The current work programme comprises four activities: the development of a coordinated collection procedure, the actual content, the interface, and feedback sessions, new services and the creation of an ENDURE Advisory Network.

SA4.5 Scientific support to policies

Leader: Silke Dachbrodt-Saaydeh (JKI)

SA4.5 aims to establish ENDURE as a source of scientific support on sustainable crop protection within the policy making process and foster the implementation of IPM on a European scale. Its work focuses on the contribution of researchers in both natural and social and human sciences to IPM implementation.
