Information particularly relevant for: Policy advisers

ENDURE has a team devoted to establishing the network as a source of scientific support within the policy making process regarding the implementation of IPM on a European scale. In these pages you will find useful material from research in both natural and social and human sciences relevant to IPM implementation:

ENDURE Network of Experts
Launched in January 2009, ENDURE's Network of Experts brings together scientific expertise from a wide range of disciplines and can offer in-depth assessments, technical recommendations and advisory support to clients at both the EU and national level. Go to ENDURE's Network of Experts.
ENDURE Policy Briefs
ENDURE is determined to play a positive role in aiding European Member States which must ‘establish or support the establishment of necessary conditions for the implementation’ of Integrated Pest Management (IPM). A key part of the support ENDURE can offer policy makers is now reaching fruition with the publication of ENDURE Policy Briefs, a range of briefing documents designed to provide insights into the conditions necessary for the successful implementation of IPM. Go to ENDURE Policy Briefs.
ENDURE's position on European pesticide policy
The strict stand taken by the European Union on pesticide legislation calls for a parallel, sustained and equally determined action to promote the design and implementation of new solutions in order to develop Integrated Pest Management schemes that contribute to sustainable development while preserving the competitiveness of European agriculture. Read article.
European Commission documents
The European Commission officially adopted and published the Regulation concerning the placing of plant protection products on the market and the Directive establishing a framework for Community action to achieve the sustainable use of pesticides in November 2009. You can download them here. Go to documents.
National policy
A range of documents and links useful for those involved in the policy making process has now been added to the ENDURE website. The selection currently includes documents relating to National Action Plans and pesticide reduction plans, plus review papers. Go to documents.
Report on the BiPRO study submitted by ENDURE to DG Environment
ENDURE's Network of Experts have completed their report on BIPRO's Development of guidance for establishing Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles  and its accompanying Draft Guidance Document . Read the ENDURE report.
Report: Italian stakeholders' conference
The challenge Member States face in implementing the European Union’s new Framework Directive on the sustainable use of pesticides was put under the spotlight at an Italian stakeholders’ conference jointly organised by ENDURE in Bologna, Italy. Read article.
Report: Paris European policy seminar
More than 230 people including politicians, scientists and farmers attended the November 2008 Paris policy seminar sponsored by the French presidency of the European Union with scientific backing from ENDURE. Read article

ENDURE's definition of Integrated Pest Management
Integrated Pest Management (IPM) creates synergies by integrating complementary methods drawing from an array of approaches including biocontrol agents, plant genetics, cultural and mechanical methods, biotechnologies, and information technologies, together with some pesticides that are still needed to address the most problematic pests and face critical situations. Read full article.
ENDURE publications
ENDURE produces a range of publications. In these pages you can find general publications about the ENDURE project, Newsletters, leaflets devoted to societal assessments and leaflets aimed at agricultural advisers and extension services (including leaflets from the Training in Integrated Pest Management series).
