Two days of meetings are being staged to mark the end of the four-year EUCLID Horizon 2020 project in September. EUCLID (Europe-China Lever for IPM Demonstration) has been working on an Integrated Pest Management approach to pest control in European and Chinese agriculture, with a particular focus on tomatoes, leaf vegetables and grapes, chosen for their economic importance, though its findings will also impact other crops.
The events are taking place at Avignon University in southern France. On Wednesday September 11, the activities will open with a workshop specifically designed for farmers, advisers and SMEs, in order to transfer the IPM technologies developed in the project.
The organisers report: “Novelties in terms of non-chemical pesticides will be presented and discussed with the audience. In addition, tools for supporting knowledge and decisions by farmers on the technologies to apply in order to fight pests will be tested with the participants. A networking cocktail is organized.
“The following day, Thursday September 12 the Final Conference will take place as a public event featuring the main EUCLID outputs and a final roundtable with key stakeholders to discuss the impacts in the areas addressed by the project, including management of pests and invasive alien species, development of relevant EU policies, increased product quality and lower environmental impact, higher awareness on IPM.”
Poster presentations and a networking lunch are included in the programme and attendance for both events is free upon registration. The deadline for registrations is midday on August 23, 2019.
