Come and join us, is the clear message being delivered to agricultural advisers and other specialists across Europe as ENDURE launches the ENDURE Network of Advisers (ENA).
The ENA will be a forum for sharing knowledge on issues relating to crop production in general and plant protection in particular all over Europe. The forum is being supported by the ENDURE Information Centre (ENDURE IC), the online database which contains a variety of ready-to-use information and experimental results related to integrated pest management (IPM).
The coordinating team behind the ENA are from ENDURE partners in six different European countries and have already made contact with several international expert advisers. Now they are throwing open the invitation to come and join the network.
In a message to advisers, they said: “Joining the network is free of charge. The only requirement is that you are willing to share your knowledge with people who are faced with IPM-related problems. In return you will get the chance to gather knowledge about IPM from international colleagues, thus improving the quality of advice that you are able to provide to farmers.
“Through the connection with ENDURE, you will be directly connected with European pesticide policy, as the outcome of this project is followed closely by representatives of the European Commission.
“One of the main objectives of ENDURE is to ensure that advisers and growers in Europe are able to practically implement any IPM-related recommendations. This further underlines the need for a group of advisors willing and able to test these recommendations under ‘real life’ conditions.
“The main language of the network for disseminating news and so forth is English, but you are more than welcome to communicate in any language with your colleagues inside the network.”
The team is currently collecting contact information from advisers before creating an online directory of members. This will also make it possible for members to contact specialists in particular fields.
