An opportunity for a post-doc position at INRIA, the French National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control, has been announced in ENDURE’s Job Opportunity pages. The position involves ‘Modelling the airborne dispersal of a pathogen over a highly structured and anthropized perennial crop cover’ and is based at INRIA’s University of Bordeaux 2 department.
Dedicated teams from ENDURE partners INRA, the French National Institute for Agricultural Research, and CIRAD, the French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development, are also involved in the project, alongside CNRS, France’s National Centre for Scientific Research.
The scientific programme for the post notes that: 'The spread of a pathogen within a strongly anthropized perennial vegetal cover depends on many parameters acting at contrasted spatio-temporal scales. This is of paramount important for vine and apple trees and their airborne-obligated parasites (powdery and downy mildew, scab) which strongly rely on the susceptibility and status of their hosts.'
The team aims to develop a plant-pathogen methodology at several spatio-temporal scales and is seeking a post-doc in Computer Sciences or in Applied Mathematics. For further details visit the Job Opportunity pages.
